The Convenience of Power Tools

March 10, 2020

Whether you’re building a house, or doing a smaller project, power tools provide a solution to complete the job with higher quality at a much faster pace. Believe it or not power tools have been around a lot longer than you may think. The first power drill was invented in 1895. Now the power tool business has grown to be a $33 billion per year industry in 2016, with projections showing growth up to $46 billion by 2025.

Finding Quality Tools

With the power tool industry growing to such great heights, there of course came many leading industry competitors, as well as countless off-brand manufacturers. As with anything in a competitive industry, the challenge to improve in quality and efficiency has been present over the years. Now more than ever brands are working hard to establish dominance in the power tool industry. You might ask the question “Okay, What is the best power tool brand to go with?”. The answer really does have a lot to do with preference, budget, and tools you may already own. We’ll give you some info, then you can decide what fits you best.

You’ve probably seen these tools being used somewhere before. They’re black and yellow, and easily noticeable. Dewalt is one of the most well established tool companies in the industry, being founded clear back in 1922 by Raymond Dewalt. They have always designed their tools around their slogan “Guaranteed Tough”. If you’re looking for quality, reliability, durability, and reduced noise, this could be the brand for you. While having such outstanding performance, Dewalt does come at a higher price than some other brands.

Being in business almost as long as Dewalt, Milwaukee was founded in 1924, 2 years later. Over time this brand has become trusted an reliable. With the market changing with technology, they quickly expanded into Lithium-ion batters in their new product line. This gave them a nice foothold in the market over time. One of the downsides to Milwaukee product line is they only offer a 5 year warranty on most of their tools. 5 years is a short period of time to have to consider buy another tool again!

Bosch is well known for their high performance tools, but mostly praised for their Table Saw. They are recognized for their outstanding manufacture of quality. The parts they produce are meant to perform, and perform they do! One of the downsides of this brand is the tool cases have been known to be less durable than their competitors. While this may be a big deal for some people, others might find this to be a minimal issue and easily overlooked.
